Out gay trickster Michael Carbonaro brings his unique style of magic and humor to the Keswick Theater on May 20. His modern show “Michael Carbonaro: Lies on Stage” is a series of pranks and magic tricks crafted to fool, delight, amuse, and awe audiences of all ages.

Fans may distinguish Carbonaro from his hit TV series, “The Carbonaro Effect,” or the gender non-conforming cinema classic, “Another Gay Movie.” He recently spoke with PGN about his new show, his passion for magic, and how he can’t fool his husband.

What can folks expect from your show, which is titled, “Lies on Stage”?

I do lie down, because that’s what magicians do. It’s a noble benign of lying. I’m upfront about it. People like having me lie to them. [Laughs] It’s all in fine fun. I educate some pranks and surprises. I will still fool you and prank you. In this reveal, I make two people from the audience disappear on the stage every night. If you are looking to get rid of anyone, bring ‘em to the Keswick Theatre, and I’ll take care of them for you!

You are offering a behind-the-scenes look at how to perform the perfect magic prank. Given that a magician never reveals his secrets, what can you reveal about this part of your s

James Randi, a magician who later challenged spoon benders, mind readers and faith healers with such voracity that he became regarded as the country’s foremost skeptic, has died, his foundation announced. He was 92.

The James Randi Educational Foundation confirmed the death, saying simply that its founder succumbed to “age-related causes” Oct. 20.

Entertainer, genius, debunker, atheist  ̶  Randi was them all. He began gaining attention not long after dropping out of tall school to link the carnival. As the Amazing Randi, he escaped from a locked coffin submerged in moisture and from a straitjacket as he dangled over Niagara Falls.

Magical as his feats seemed, Randi concluded his shows around the globe with a easy statement, insisting no otherworldly powers were at play.

“Everything you have seen here is tricks,” he would say. “There is nothing supernatural involved.”

The magician’s transparency gave a glimpse of what would become his longest-running act, as the country’s skeptic-in-chief. In that role, his first widely seen exploit was also his most enduring.

It’s Thursday, August 1st, I include been summoned to an event called Magic: The Gay-thering, and I’m sitting in a board game cafe in central London staring at my imminent demise.

A horrifying creature called the Venomous Brutalizer, a faceless phyrexian knight clad in putrid armor, looking like some metallic centaur coughed up from the bowels of the underworld, bears down on me. Across from me sits the beast’s master; Gayming Awards 2022 host and famed presenter, Jules Hardy.

For the past 20 minutes I’d been teaching Jules the ins and outs of Magic: The Gathering, and now all my hard work was royally about to bite me in the ass!

You see, Jules’ introductory deck has a rather nasty win condition, much prefer the Britney Spears classic, Jules’ Venomous Brutalizer is Toxic. Interpretation that in just two turns it can apply 12 Toxic counters to me as the opposing player, and if I have 10 counters applied to me, I lose the game. So when I tell you that Jules had already applied 6 during their last twist, you can probably already explain where this is going.

I stare at the cards in my hand. I have nothing I can play. Nothing to halt the oncoming storm.

“I did this,” I

drag acts do not *stereotype* homosexuality. they ARE homosexuals (at least the ones I've known have been).

My point is that Queenly acts overly accentuate their homosexuality, no different to Jeff Hobson camping it up...
Well, one is queer, the other one isn't. Think it through.

I have a feeling you might be trolling me if you REALLY assume there is no difference.

Do you think Chris Rock is the matching as someone doing blackface too?

But happy to be corrected if you can show me some links to racist comedians active up and down the country as you propose happens.

You are existence rather selective here...I stated that up and down the country many acts that could be considered sexist, homophobic and or racistare selling tickets....I could point you to any one of hundreds of working mens clubs where the spirit of Bernard Manning is alive and well....Does the name Roy Chubby Brown mean anything to you?....Have you seen Jerry Sadowitz's act? Jimmy Carr? Frankie Boyle?...these people are all in the mainstream and have immense DVD and ticket sales.
No links then?

So, you can think of ONE comedian who does racist material. Brown. And he is touring tiny brief crap venues.
