The Max, DC's, and Flixx

Postby nittanylionstorm07 »

Since I can see there are quite a few fellow gays on here, I must ask:  what's your favorite?

I've only lived here since late June, but I hold been to all three.  The max was originally my favorite because it seemed easier to meet people, since each bar had its own clientele...but since I set up a group of friends, it's changed.  I really, really, really like the atmosphere at DC's, but the several times I've gone there in the past 2 months, it seems as if it is on death's doorstep (though they contain great beer prices and selection...yay Pacifico!), so Flixx seems the best option right now with the right mix of people.

I do wonder if anyone else has noticed the recent...how should I say..."changes" at both DCs and the Max....basically, no more basement bar and no more 1st Fridays of the m

Bordered by the Missouri River and the Platte River, Omaha Nebraska has many beautiful waterfront parks. Boasting the country’s largest urban arts colony, the city has the nation's largest community playhouse, the third largest children's theater, an opera, a symphony, and a major art museum. Council Bluffs, part of the metropolitan area, is just across the Missouri River in Iowa.

With more than 1million people living within a 50-mile radius, it’s no surprise Omaha has a sizable homosexual community. It shows its accurate colors for Heartland Pride Time every June, in Omaha.

Getting here

Omaha’s Eppley Airfield is about 7 miles northwest of the city. Taxis, shuttle buses and the number 16 Metro bus are available to transport you downtown. Amtrak trains also stop here.

Getting around

Renting a car is the optimal way to get around. The Omaha Metro has buses to get you around on widespread transportation for $1.25. The Downtown Transit Center, (two blocks of 16th St between Dodge and Farnam), is the major hub for connections to most everywhere

So I've read a few threads that have gone off the rails, and I'm wondering: I'm considering a change position to Omaha and I don't ask for to live in an exclusively male lover enclave, but I want to survive in a neighborhood where I can be open about who I am, build a being in public, and show affection to my partner (and celebrate these things) without fearing for my safety. It's fine if these spaces don't occur in Omaha -- I'll just position my sights elsewhere -- but I want to recognize what I'm getting myself into (and where I should look) before I sign on the dotted line. Sense free to distribute thoughts that are on topic, and many thanks!

You'd be satisfactory in any part of the metropolis, really. The Benson and Midtown areas are probably where you will need to start looking.
