What is it with Big Brother and Gay Men?
Shackles said:
Handsome, attractive men: Always the linear ones chosen for the show (besides David06)..
Goofy, campy men: They hold to be gay...
Is this some sort of a bias against attractive gay men or are they too afraid to hold hot gay men on the illustrate (maybe we're not ready for identical sex romance in the house)?
Oh, I was pleased we had a lesbian like Tully - a beautiful effeminate one until, um, she kinda 'turned' straight and was probably pansexual to begin with rather than a lesbian. :/Click to expand...
When I think back to the housemates we have had in the past who are gay, I think we acquire had quite a broad representation. We have had powerful gay men, entertaining gay men, overweight gay men, effeminate gay men, signify gay men and super hot lgbtq+ men. To propose they were all cut from some fairy coloured cloth is bollocks.
Ben and Benjamin are prefer chalk and cheese with no similarities what so ever outside the reality they both enjoy cock!
You have to remember, as humans we have similar characteristics. We are individual - just like every body else.Is Jake gay?
Hi guys,
Long occasion lurker, first time poster here!
Not sure if this has been raised by anyone before, but I was wondering if anyone knew definitively whether Jake was gay or not?
I first got this vibe on launch night, by what he was wearing, his mannerisms and demeanour (very similar to some of my gay male friends).
This was later compounded by a few things, (although I don't grasp if i'm reading into it too much):- He seemed to gravitate towards the female housemates as opposed to the males/bromances that are going on
- I can't remember which night it was, but the housemates were all sitting on the couch, and I noticed Jake had his nails painted. Not that this is an indicator of homosexuality, but I didn't see any of the other guys with a full manicure put (I think Travis may have had one nail painted)
- His reluctance to kiss/snuggle with Skye. In the spa scenes he seemed very awkward and place off by her forwardness. This is again not a red flag (Katie was the same when Ryan kissed her), but my male housemates commented "no straight guy would reject a harmless brush or snuggle with Skye".

How Big Brother blazed the track for LGBTQ+ representation on TV
This article was originally published 28 March 2023.
It was the summer of 2010 and Shabby Katchadourian was walking around the Big Brother bedroom in a inky bra, glasses and a bandana. I was 17 and suddenly very aware that all I wanted to do was lick her stomach.
I’m not sure why it was this moment that sparked a big gay realisation. It’s not like there was a shortage of images of women in bras in pop culture. In 2010, however, there was a shortage of woman loving woman representation on television. Shabby was one of the first times I saw a real-life queer woman on screen, authentic and messy and flawed just love everyone else, trying to navigate the unusual experience of suddenly living with an eclectic community of strangers being filmed 24/7 and, at the same day, navigate the universal lesbian trial of falling for a flirty straight girl. (She’s also boiling as fuck but that’s neither here nor there, for the purposes of this article.)
For all its controversies and criticisms, what Big Brother did succeed at was genuinely representing the diversity of the human experience. Unlike reality television today, where
