Consider this short story collection the birth of modern lgbtq+ horror. Though not every character is out, and not every story has gay themes, there are more than enough in here to make LGBTQIA characters the norm, not the exception.
From “In the Hills, the Cities,” about two gay men who vacation nearby the site of a ritual gone horribly wrong, to “Human Remains,” about a man whose doppelganger is becoming more real than he is, to “The Midnight Meat Train” — which sadly isn’t what you think it is — Clive Barker’s stories are always brilliant, often disturbing, and consistently thought-

Story
At a club in Missing Mile, N.C., the children of the night gather, dressed in black, look for acceptance. Among them are Ghost, who sees what others do not; Ann, longing for love; and Jason, whose real name is Nothing, newly awakened to an ancient, deathless reality about his father, and himself. Others are coming to Missing Mile tonight. Three beautiful, hip vagabonds - Molochai, Twig, and the seductive Zillah, whose eyes are as lush as limes - are on their own missing journey, slaking their ancient thirst for blood, looking for supple young flesh.
